Fall is officially in session and the epitome of #hairgoals has completely taken over a new look. We have with difficulty parted ways with bleached locks painted with bright, neon colors and cool tones (it was fun while it lasted Unicorn Hair). Fall has arrived and declared that the flashy-in-your-face-bright colors are out and sophisticated, warm-toned colors are in. It’s time to update your Instagram hashtag search before walking into the salon from #pastel to #fallayage.

What is Fallayage?

If you’re wondering what fallayage is we have a simple equation to help you figure it out:

Fall + Balayage = Fallayage

If hair color could be described as a Starbucks drink it’s essentially the new Maple Pecan Latte. We see you Pumpkin Spice – you had your moment. Now move over. Fallayage is taking the balayage technique that we love and combining it with the warmer, rich hues of the season.

Why Fallayage?

Why Not?! Colorists are going back to the basics this season with rich, autumnal tones that are warmer and healthier for the hair. Unlike many of the summer’s brighter hair trends – you don’t really need to bleach your hair for to obtain a gorgeous fallayage.

Opting for a warmer-balayage is a fantastic way to add back shine, luster and dimension to your tresses without sacrificing your hair health. Whether you want just a touch of balayage or a heavier application the fall-approved tones of maple, sunset or honey will blend with your hair beautifully in order to keep up with the season’s latest trend.

How to Keep Your Fallayage Vibrant?

The only feeling that could even be considered comparable to noticing via all your recent selfies that your beautiful color has been fading over the last few weeks is dropping your new highlighter and having all of the powder shatter. We’re not entirely sure which is worse – but since we can’t do anything about the latter we do have some tips on how to avoid the former.

Since we know there’s no greater enemy to a beautiful color job than sulfate it’s important that you choose our shampoo and conditioner wisely in order to avoid stripping your fallayage. Choosing Biosilk’s Color Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner as your go to duo will keep your locks fresh and protected. This set cleanses with gentle surfactants and rids hair of impurities without harming your hair color.

You can even take your preventive measures up another notch by following up post-wash with Biosilk’s Color Therapy Lock & Protect. This product helps to seal the hair cuticle and locks in moisture while working to prevent further color loss.

Protection from damaging UV rays and environmental stressors is essential for color-treated hair. Lock & Protect is enhanced with Maracuja (passion fruit seed oil) and silk to make hair stronger by helping seal the cuticle and prevent color loss. Antioxidants keep hair color vibrant and rich, protecting against color loss and fade with red tea extract. For daily protection, apply product to the ends of hair, even on the days when you are not shampooing.
